Make a Bat Resting box to attract bats to your garden. After eating thousands of flying insects around your garden you can provide them with with a place to rest and digest!. A bat box offers a safe place to roost and can encourage bats into your garden as natural pest control contributing to the conservation of these amazing protected mammals. Local craft-person Craig will guide you through the basic woodworking skills and techniques to create your very own bat resting box.

Visible mending techniques can restore your favourite jumpers and socks, save them from moth nibbles, fraying cuffs and tears, and be an art form in its own right. Join Repair Cafe Belfast's fantastic sewing team to try your hand at darning, inspiration from fabulous projects they've completed (like these by Sue, pictured) and learn how to save your own favourite knits.
This class is suitable for beginners or those with some experience. Bring a piece of knitwear you want to get started on - samples will also be available. Due to no shows in previous events, there's a small charge to secure your spot and ensure we don't turn people away unnecessarily. This workshop is heavily subsidised by funding from DAERA’s carrier bag levy. You are very welcome to add a donation to help us reach more people with sewing, mending and upcycling skills.

Jeans Rescue

Hate it when jeans wear out in just one area, while the rest of the denim is going strong? This workshop will teach you how to save your favourite jeans, get months or years more wear from them and save the cost of buying new ones! Denim is a really intensive fabric to produce; by repairing and continuing to wear jeans for longer, you are taking a great step towards a more sustainable wardrobe! Once you learn the technique, you’ll be able to keep all your jeans in great shape from now on.
This workshop is open to all, though denim can be a tricky fabric to sew with for complete beginners. There will be a chance to explore both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques.
Bring a pair of jeans you would like to fix. All other materials and equipment will be provided.
Thanks to funding from DAERA’s carrier bag levy, we are able to offer these sessions at a low charge. If you are able, we would welcome any donations towards BTL so we can reach more people with these fantastic sustainable sewing skills.

Join us for this workshop in making simple, reusable fabric gift bags for all occasions, using reclaimed fabrics.
